How I frame my minis
It’s no secret that I love making minis, but figuring out the best way to display them was a little tricky at first. If you’re a friend or family member, chances are high that you have at least one mini piece from me, so I wanted to put together a quick little guide for how I frame my minis without spending tons of money on custom framing. I figure it is the least I could do since I will continue inundating you with mini art pieces for a long time. Hope you find this helpful!
Mini frames
The obvious option is to find mini frames for your mini art. The only downside is that they can be a little hard to find. In the past, I’ve liked using these floating gold frames which I got in a 12-pack on Amazon. You can find individual ones on Etsy like this one, but they’ll be more expensive (but also probably higher quality!). If you’re in my immediate family, go ahead and just get yourself the 12-pack because you’re bound to end up with enough of my minis to fill them all.
I’ve heard from friends that they’ve had good luck finding mini frames at Michael’s, and I also just came across this vintage-looking one which I think would be cute!
Larger frames with a mat
My favorite way to frame my minis is with a textured mat in a larger frame (usually either 4x6 or 5x7). Since these sizes are more common, it gives me more options of frames to choose from. I’ve been ordering 5-packs of fabric mats in different colors from this Etsy shop, and they have been absolutely perfect for framing my minis as gifts or for our apartment. I think this is a great option if you want to hang your mini, because it’ll take up a little more space on the wall.
One of my go-to online shops for nicer frames when I’m willing to spend a little bit more is Craig Frames. I like that each frame comes in a lot of different sizes so you have a lot of options no matter what size you’re looking for. It’s still way more affordable than a custom frame, so I don’t mind paying a little more for a higher quality frame.
When I’m trying to save some money, I can usually find some good options on Amazon. Sometimes I get lucky and find really cute frames at vintage and thrift shops as well! Keep an eye out next time you’re thrift shopping!
Some of the frames I’ve really liked recently:
Natural Wood Frame, Amazon
Wood Frames, Etsy
Ebony Frame, Craig Frames
Dark Walnut Frame, Craig Frames
Black & Gold Matted Frame, Craig Frames
